01 Production Overview of ZHITAI PC005 Active NVMe SSD
The capacity of ZHITAI PC005 Active NVMe SSD includes 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. You can choose your capacity. In terms of appearance and size, ZHITAI PC005 Active NAMe SSD takes advantage of a compact M.2 2280 design, which can fully save space.
ZHITAI PC005 Active NVMe SSD adopts PCle Gen 3.0 x 4 high-speed interfaces, compatible with major desktop’s main board and working with the majority of laptops, which has not only matches the performance of desktop, but also provides better compatibility. At the same time, this SSD makes use of NVMe agreement. And, the maximum read speed of 512GB version can reach 3500MB per second, and the maximum write speed can achieve 2500MB per second. 02 Detail about Xtacking Architecture
Before introducing the internal architecture, we need to know about Xtacking architecture of YMTC which had launched development and research on 3D NAND from 2014. Until August 2018, YMTC had finally developed Xtacking architecture through technological exploration and innovative research. After release, Xtacking architecture had immediately attached Research & Development industry’s attention while received several prizes both at home and abroad, including Flash Memory Summit (FMS) , China Flash Market Summit (CFMS) , China Information Technology Expo (CITE) and so on.
Compare with other 3D NAND technologies, the major feature of Xtacking architecture is electric circuit which is responsible for I/O transmission and memory units on two independent wafers and then bonds the wafers through Xtacking process. It is convenient to choose an advanced manufacturing process and reduce the complexity of manufacturing process, thus enabling NAND to achieve higher I/O transmission speeds, higher density, and smaller chip area.

03 ZHITAI PC005 Active NVMe SSD：Particle+Main Control
In terms of the internal architecture, ZHITAI PC005 Active NVMe SSD adopts single -sided PCB design, integrated master control, flash and external cache particles.
In terms of main control, it is equipped with Silicon Motion SM2262EN, which supports PCIe G3×4 channel NVMe 1.3 specification and 8 NAND channel designs. The maximum sequential read speed is up to 3.5GB/s, sequential write speed up to 3.0GB/s, random read and write up to 420K IOPS and 420K IOPS.
In terms of particle, ZHITAI PC005 Active NVMe SSD is equipped with two 64 3D NAND flash memory particle , with a capacity of 256GB. The more layers there are on the stack, the more 3D NAND flash capacity there is. And the more layers you stack, the more capacity you get. 04 Performance Test
As for performance test, we will conduct continuous performance test, 4K random test, HD Tune stability test and other theoretical performance tests respectively. We used three extensively used software, including Crystal Disk Mark, ATTO and Txbench to conduct a triple test to test the continuous performance of SSDS mutually.
Crystal Disk Mark Test
In Crystal Disk Mark test, we will firstly test the theoretical continuous performance of the ZHITAI PC005 Active NVMe SSD.
The Crystal Disk Mark test showed that the ZHITAI PC005 Active NVMe SSD had a reading speed of 3494.7mb /s and a writing speed of 2486.6mb /s, which reach the standard of the first echelon of the PCIe 3.0 SSD.
As the reference point is designated as the size of the actual application document class file, the ATTO test can reflect the maximum read and write performance of documents with different radix. With the outstanding throughput performance of ZHITAI PC005 Active NVMe SSD in different blocks, the maximum read and write speed in the ATTO test reached 3090MB/s and 2320MB/s.
In Txbench test, the software will test its memory property in different queues and different data blocks, simulating conditions of its daily use.
In Txbench test, the 512GB ZHITAI PC005 Active NVMe SSD also achieved a good performance, with the maximum continuous read performance of 3,383.224 MB/s and the maximum continuous write performance of more than 2465MB/s, which was basically consistent with the previous results of Crystal Disk Mark test.
04 4K Random Test
The next is the 4K random test. We will use AS SSD to implement this test. AS SSD Benchmark is a standard test program designed for SSD testing. It contains tests of key data, such as tests of AS continuous read and write, 4KB random read and write with single thread, 4KB random read and write with 64 threads, and disk seek time. And its results will be standardized according to the formula, which can more scientifically reflect the real performance of SSD.
In the 4KB random performance test by AS SSD, the 4K reading speed of 512GB ZHITAI PC005 Active NVMe SSD with 64 threads reached 290K IOPS and its 4K writing speed with threads reached 357469 IOPS, which has reached the international standard of PCIe 3.0 hard disk.
05 Stability Test
The stability of solid-state drives is essential. Many SSDS in the market are equipped with SLC acceleration mechanism, which will lead to obvious differences in the performance during voluminous data transmission processes, which cannot truly estimate the product performance. SO we used HD Tune in this test to verify the real performance of the 512GB ZHITAI PC005 Active NVMe SSD.
In HD Tune stability test, we set file length as 10000MB to test the standards of actual reading and writing of the 512GB ZHITAI PC005 Active NVMe SSD.
The HD Tune software showed that the disk speed of the 512GB ZHITAI PC005 Active NVMe SSD began to drop when the file size was about 6GB because most TLC solid-state drives have a portion of their memory capacity that simulate SLC particles to solve the problem of disk speed. According to this test, the cache capacity of this hard disk is around 6GB. In addition, in the test with a file length of 10000MB, the image showed that the overall trend of the hard disk was floating within a very small range and the general performance was relatively stable.
