The DRAM Flash chip manufacturer SK Hynix from South Korea announced that the second plant (C2F) in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, has been completed, the output of the first batch of wafer yield is also in line with expectations, the official mass production is scheduled to be launched in May this year.

SK Hynix is the largest overseas enterprise with independent investment in Jiangsu Province. Both of them have been working together for more than 14 years, the cumulative investment by SK is more than US $10.5 billion.

Just a few days ago, SK Hynix announced that they will increase the production capacity of the first generation of 10nm process (1xnm) memory chips, on the other hand SK begin selling memory chips based on the second generation 10nm process (1ynm) in the second half of this year.

The project of 2nd plant (C2F) from SK Hynix in Wuxi was announced in December 2016. It was signed in October 2017, and started in June 2017, and the equipment was moved in November 2018, the total investment of C2F was US $8.6 billion. Among this amount, there was $1.6 billion using for the construction of 33000 square meters of new plant and ancillary facilities, and the balance $7 billion was for the introduction of state-of-the-art memory chip production equipment in the world.

As an extension of the existing plant (C2), the construction cycle of the C2F plant will be completed from 2017 to 2026. Once the new plant has fully completed, it will become the largest single investment, the largest monthly production capacity, and the most technologically advanced 10nm level process memory chip production base in the world. The Monthly production capacity will be up to 180000pcs of 300mm wafers, and the annual sales will be up to $3.3 billion.

At present, SK Hynix accounts for about 35% of the Chinese memory chip market, and the rate will reach to 45% when the C2F in Wuxi start to launch mass production.
