As the new epoch of Internet of Things (IoT) draws increasingly near, one trillion connected devices and Big Data will come along. While all walks of life are enjoying the convenience and exploring the value of IoT technology and massive data, IoT security subsequently becomes a basic requirement. For IoT itself, security and reliability throughout the whole IoT value chain are two qualities that serve as the cornerstones as well as the guarantees of the realization of IoT.

On July 9th, Qinghua Yu of UNISOC attended the Arm Platform Security Architecture (PSA) seminar and shared how UNISOC, as a chip manufacturer, managed to create secure Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) chip solutions that are based on Arm PSA.

UNISOC’s secure AIoT chip solutions are a series of IoT chip platform solutions that are based on PSA. They offer end-to-end solutions with reliable computing performance and robust connectivity to industry customers. The solutions are able to intelligently identify the different protocols of different manufacturers’ devices and further support the data exchange between them, thus successfully tacking fragmentation and lack of interoperability in IoT. Meanwhile, the solutions support a wide variety of interfaces for different devices and provide all-day real-time management and failure prediction. Besides, they optimize the wireless spectrum and service, aiming to provide customers with superior user experience.

AIoT platforms, as the core of the solutions, are comprised of a series of chip development platforms that can handle edge computing. The platforms using dual-core application processors with high performance, security, and reliability achieve powerful operational ability and can support numerous functions, including 2*2 Wi-Fi5 2.4/5 GHz MU-MIMO, FTM positioning, Bluetooth 5.0 audio, long range, mesh, Angle of Arrival and Angle of Departure (AoA/AoD), and so on. Leveraging the advanced low-power consumption architecture, the highly integrated RF system, and the high-quality wireless coexistence function, the AIoT platforms are enabled to meet a wide range of product and design needs.

In addition to users, UNISOC’s secure AIoT chip solutions are also open-source IoT solutions aimed at developers. Developers can customize different secure world and non-secure world according to their own product needs. When working with high-performance encryption and decryption engines, adjustable secure interfaces, and storage management, the solutions can help developers to accelerate the development, testing, and mass production of their products or applications.

Nowadays, both device manufacturers and end users start to attach more and more importance to IoT security issues, especially in the markets that require a relatively high level of security of SoC, such as the smart speaker and wireless camera markets. In order to ensure a high level of security of the overall solutions, UNISOC’s IoT solutions based on PSA-M incorporate SoC-level key security technologies, including encryption hierarchy and multi-layered protection, which fundamentally shield the entire IoT value chain from possible risks by creating secure IoT devices from layers of chips. What’s more, the reliable security features of PSA-M can dramatically alleviate manufacturers’ as well as users’ concerns about security.

In the time to come, UNISOC will speed up providing safer and more reliable AIOT chip solutions for customers. Teaming up with Arm and other related laboratories authenticated by security authority, the company will allocate more resources to research and development in order to obtain a higher-level PSA Certified™. At the same time, it will collaborate with other IoT device manufacturers and solution suppliers from all walks of life to provide more high-quality chips and smart solutions. UNISOC, together with its ecological partners in the industry, will be dedicated to create an era of safe and reliable inter-connected world.
