A New Trend In Storage: Goke Microelectronics’ China-made SSD Controllers To Hit The Market

Recently, Goke Microelectronics launched its latest 310/610 series SSD(Solid State Drive). Based on the company’s fully self-developed SSD controller chip “GK2302 series,” the SSDs are able to provide users with the storage solutions with high performance, high reliability and high security.
 
Goke’s 310/620 series SSDs have a storage capacity of up to 4TB, which is sufficient enough to satisfy most governments’ office needs and most enterprises’ business needs. With their interfaces supporting a SATA3.0 protocol, the SSDs offer a high sequential read speed of up to 550MB/s and a write speed of 500MB/s, whose power consumption is so low that it is only 1.3W, so they can deliver a superior user experience to consumers. To be specific, the 310 series is aimed for common workplaces, while the 610 series is aimed for workplaces that need a higher level of security.

As critical information infrastructure gradually popularized in China, more and more Chinese brands’ SSD solutions have emerged in the market. Most of these solutions use SSD controllers that are developed by other companies. Unlike them, Goke’s 310/610 series SSDs are based on its fully self-developed and homegrown SSD    controller chips “GK2302 series,” by which the company can eliminate the underlying safety risks from the source so as to ensure the safety of user’s data to the greatest degree possible.

As China's first homegrown SSD controller chips, GK2302 series chips have four main features. First, they are built on Loongson, an embedded CPU IP core. Second, every step in the entire production process, from chip design and tape-out to production and packaging, is finished in China. Third, they are interoperable with all CPU platforms made in China. Fourth, they are safe and reliable built on the national security cryptographic algorithms.

First and foremost, different from other SSD controller chips that are based on foreign brands’ CPU design, Goke’s GK2302 series takes the lead in adopting the original and self-developed Loongson embedded CPU, and it is thus the first controller chip that uses homegrown CPU.

Secondly, after years of incredible hard work and tireless endeavor, China’s integrated circuits manufacturing has been improved substantially, and it is now mature enough to deliver foundry and technology services. Therefore, Goke chose to collaborate with Chinese companies in the development of GK2302 series chips and finish the entire production process including tape-out, production, and packaging in China.

In addition, most SSDs in the China market have not undergone enough platform interoperability testing before they actually hit the market, and thus it is hard for them to achieve plug-and-play interoperability. On the contrary, Goke’s 310/610 series SSDs, inheriting high interoperability with various platforms from the last series, can easily tackle this interoperability problem.

Last but not least, since information security has reached the national level, integrated national cryptographic algorithms have been a must for chips. Goke started to use national cryptographic algorithms, first in its GK2301 series chips and later in other chips, in order to achieve the security and reliability of data storage.

It can be foreseen that Goke’s 310/610 series SSDs based on GK2302 series chips will determine the new trends in China’s SSD market in the upcoming years. What’s more, by leveraging its 310/610 series, Goke will further lay the foundation and pave the way for its position as the leading brand in China’s SSD business.

Goke’s 310/610 series SSDs are about to be launched in the market soon. At present, many Chinese mainstream brands that sell complete machines including Inspur, Sugong, Lenovo, Tsinghua Tongfang, Great Wall and Baixin, all declare that they will increase their cooperation based on 310/610 series SSDs with Goke in future, so that they can team up to provide better solutions to support the popularization and production of key information infrastructure in China.
